What to expect at the first appointment

During your first consultation at East Ivanhoe Physiotherapy your physiotherapist will guide you through a detailed and comprehensive assessment and examination to determine the cause of your problem. From this assessment the most effective treatment program will be implemented for you.  Your physiotherapist will educate you on your condition, its prognosis and the treatment required to assist you in your optimal recovery. They will discuss your goals with you and work with you to achieve them. Your physiotherapist will also liaise with your doctor, sports physician, specialists, personal trainer or coach as required.

Do I need a referral?

No you don’t need a referral. The physiotherapists at East Ivanhoe Physiotherapy are primary contact practitioners so you don’t need a referral to see us. Physiotherapists are practitioners who are skilled at assessing and treating a variety of musculoskeletal disorders/injuries (sporting and non-sporting).

We will liaise with appropriate health professionals and refer you on as necessary.

A medical referral from your general practitioner is necessary only if: You have been injured at work and your case is being managed by WorkCover; or your treatment is covered by Veterans Affairs; or you are claiming your treatment expenses through a 3rd party claim.

Appointments

Physiotherapy appointments are generally available between 8.00 am – 7.00 pm daily Monday to Friday and 8.00 am to 1.00 pm Saturdays (call for exact available daily times). To make appointments, patients need to call the clinic on 9497 3098.

An appointment usually takes up to 30 minutes for the treatment of a single problem.  Multiple or complex problems may require additional time.  Please inform reception on booking if this is the case to ensure enough time is allocated to treat all your injuries.  If this is not done, these injuries may need to be treated at a separate time.

Cancellation Policy

We request at least 24 hours notice for cancellation of appointments, if you are unable to attend your appointment, so that that time may be utilised by other patients requiring treatment.  Repeated failure to attend your appointment without cancellation notification may incur a failure to attend fee.

Do you treat WorkCover, Veterans Affairs and TAC Patients?

Yes we do, but please be aware you will still need to pay for your consultation on the day until we have confirmation that you claim has been accepted and you have reached your TAC medical threshold.

We bill TAC and WorkCover directly for all treatment once you have provided a claim number. However, there is a gap fee to cover the rest of the consultation fee as WorkCover recognise a “standard” physiotherapy consultation as a “treatment of one area only and for 15 minutes”. TAC also pay based on a similar duration of appointment.

At East Ivanhoe Physiotherapy we provide 30 minutes of one on one treatment to provide optimal care for your recovery.
