WHAT IS GLA:D®?
GLA:D® is an education and exercise program that consistent is with the latest
evidence for first line, best treatment for hip and knee osteoarthritis (OA)
What Does The Program Involve?
An initial consult with a Physiotherapist collecting data on your current functional ability
Two education sessions teaching you about OA and how the GLA:D® exercises improve
joint stability and how to retain this stability outside the program
Group neuromuscular training sessions twice a week for six weeks to improve joint muscle
control which leads to reduction in symptoms and increased quality of life
GLA:D® Program at East Ivanhoe Physiotherapy
Our program runs in 7 week blocks.
This consists of:
2x education sessions with a Physiotherapist (approx 1hour)
12 neuromuscular exercise sessions in a group with a qualified GLA:D® Physiotherapist either
on a Monday and Thursday afternoon
You will need to wear comfortable clothing suitable for exercising, including appropriate supportive footwear.
Am I eligible for the program?
GLA:D® is program for any individual who experiences any hip or knee osteoarthritis symptoms, regardless of severity.
If your symptoms have resulted in you contacting a health care
practitioner then you are eligible to participate. You don’t need an Xray!
Cost of the GLA:D® Program
Initial GLA:D® Assessment (30 mins): $99* ($89 for exisiting patients)
14 sessions GLA:D® Program : $600 upfront or $45 per session
3 month review: $89
EPC referrals can be used for initial and 3 month review
