What is Physiotherapy Group Exercise?

Physiotherapy Group Exercise is a form of individualised physical exercise that focuses on posture, core stability, control and strength. Physiotherapy Group Exercise uses Clinical Pilates principles to address all aspects of human body movement in a safe and personalised manner.

All our exercise classes are run by highly trained Physiotherapists, that direct each client through their individually tailored exercise program

Physiotherapy Group Exercise uses various resistance apparatus to isolate all aspects of human body movement in a functional manner.

How to get started?

The best way to get started with the Physiotherapy Group Exercise classes is to book your Introductory Assessment with one of our trained Physiotherapists, by calling 9497 3098.  Patients must attend a minimum of two individual sessions with a Physiotherapist prior to attending classes to allow time to sit down and discuss your goals and expectations. Your physiotherapist will carry out a comprehensive assessment of any injuries or issues and then tailor an individualised program to help you achieve your goals. We aim to review all group attendees every 2-4 months to check progression and refine or change your program as required.

At East Ivanhoe Physiotherapy, qualified Physiotherapists run our Group Physiotherapy Exercise classes which means you can claim through your Private Health Insurance “Extras” to receive a rebate off every session. Our standard classes are capped at 4 people per class and run everyday Monday to Saturday. We also offer both buddy sessions with 2 people per class, which allows you and a friend/family member to attend with just you and your Physiotherapist.

Why Physiotherapy Group Exercise?

Physiotherapy Group Exercise (as distinct to generic Pilates classes) identifies key issue areas, then applies carefully selected exercises and strengthening techniques to patients with specific injuries. The general fitness benefits of Pilates include:

  • Faster recovery from injury

  • Improved posture & flexibility

  • Increased muscle strength & length

  • Firmer & flatter stomach muscles

  • Greater resistance to injury

  • Overall body toning
